The application process for the Global Projects Program (GPP) is competitive. Meeting deadlines, completing all components of the application, and attending or viewing info sessions and/or interviews on time all contribute to a successful application. Every application is carefully reviewed and considered. However, no student is guaranteed placement at any project center.
Once you have decided on your first choice site, start your application by clicking "Apply Now" on the Program Brochure. Then select "I have a WPI username and password" to prompt the WPI login screen. Login with your WPI credentials and be sure to follow the instructions on the application page.

How to Apply Video (IQP Only)
We have created a step-by-step guide to walk you through the application process. IQP applicants are required to watch this video which can be found on your Canvas portal under My Courses. Access the course and follow the instructions to view the video and complete a short quiz. All Sophomores are already added to this course. If you do not have access to the course and are applying for an IQP, email email@example.com to be registered.
The application questionnaire asks for some basic information including your phone number, parent contact info, and your language ability if you speak multiple languages.
The essay prompt provides a writing sample for Directors to see your writing style and learn more about you. Essay prompts vary by program type, please see the essay prompt for your program below.
EXAMPLE: IQP Essay Prompt 17-18 Application Cycle
Please write a brief essay (350 to 500 words) in support of your application to an off-campus IQP program. Consider an individual or group of individuals who was featured in the news this year for their engagement outside their home community (here in the U.S. or abroad). Describe what this/these individual(s) did, and how his/her/their actions inform how you intend to engage in the world as a representative of WPI’s Global Projects Program.

Please write a brief essay (500 to 700 words) in support of your application to an off-campus MQP program. Important attributes to consider when writing this essay include work ethic, attitude, flexibility, motivation, creativity, and record of technical accomplishments. You are expected to address your strengths and weaknesses with regard to these attributes. You should give specific examples from your life as evidence. The quality of your writing in response to this question is a factor in determining your acceptance to the program.

Upload a recent copy of your updated resume or CV.
Two References (IQP and MQP Only)
You will only be asked to provide the names and contact info for two references. You do not need to submit a letter of reference. One reference should be a WPI faculty member. Your second reference can be a WPI faculty or staff member, or a coach, supervisor, or faculty member from another institution who would be willing to serve as a reference for you.
Course History (IQP Only)
Please provide a list of courses that you have taken and/or are planning to take in Humanities & Arts and Social Science & Policy Studies that relate to your site of interest. Provide course department, course number, and full course title.
You will be asked to sign off on a few application statements including an understanding of the application process and a release of your transcript and judicial records.
Other Program Specific Details
Site Preference Form (IQP Only) - Students will be asked to submit a site preference form after the application deadline.
Project Center Rankings (MQP Only) - Students will be asked to submit project preferences at the time of application.
