IQP: How to Apply
WPI IQP Project Centers offer projects focused on a wide range of topics - from environmental sustainability to historic preservation. Think about your own interests and the kind of project you'd like to participate in first, and then consider project center locations. The IQP application process is competitive. Meeting deadlines, completing all components of the application, and attending info sessions and interviews on time all contribute to a successful application. Every application is carefully reviewed and considered. However, no student is guaranteed placement at any project center.
Here are the steps to apply:
1. Attend site information sessions and browse programs online.
There are several mandatory site sessions for all project centers. You are required to attend one of the site information sessions for your first choice site. Attendance is taken at all sessions, and your application will not be considered if you are not recorded as having attended your first choice site. You may also browse sites through the Global Portal by clicking on "Programs".
2. Apply.Once you have decided on your first choice site, start your application by clicking "Apply Now" on the Program Brochure. All applicants must be in good academic standing at the time of application. Be sure to read and complete all documents in the "Application Questionnaires" section and the "Signature Documents" section on your applicant page. Please also read the items listed under "Material Submissions." These require a physical action on your part. IGSD will check mark them as completed once the appropriate actions have been taken.
Important Note for All Applicants: You must start an application before you can log in to this site. Any time that you are trying to log into the Global Portal Website prior to having started an application you will get an error message.
3. Rank project center preferences.
At the end of September, the IQP Project Center Rankings form will appear on your applicant page. You must rank or choose the “do not consider me for this site” option for every site.
Each applicant must be interviewed for the first choice site. You will only be interviewed once. If you sign up for more than one interview you may be disqualified. Interviews will happen in the office of the person conducting the interview. It is your responsibility to find out where that is. There is a limited window of time when you can access the interview scheduler. You will receive information on interview sign ups from the IGSD office. The interview scheduler can be found here: IQP Interview Scheduler

5. Notification and confirmation.
You will receive notification from IGSD informing you of the outcome of your application: accepted, provisionally accepted, waitlisted, or denied. You must review and return the appropriate documents and deposit (links to these requirements will appear on your applicant page) to the IGSD to secure your participation in the program. If you are accepted to a project center, you must let us know whether or not you wish accept the placement. If you decline your placement your slot will be opened up to candidates on the waitlist and you will forfeit your opportunity to participate in the program.
